Central Trades & Labor Council Endorses Ben Banchs for School Board District 7

I’m proud to announce that the Central Trades & Labor Council, AFL-CIO, serving St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington parishes, has endorsed my candidacy for St. Tammany Parish School Board, District 7.

The council’s delegates voted to endorse me at their September 9 meeting. I received formal notification in a September 16 letter from Council President John J. Sabathe.

The council also committed to notifying its affiliated local unions and union members living in District 7 about the endorsement and encouraging participation in the November 3 election.

“We will do all we can from our end to ensure your success,” Sabathe wrote.

This endorsement joins the support I have already received from the St. Tammany Federation of Teachers and School Employees. I am grateful to both organizations for their confidence in me and for the work their members do throughout our community.

Our public schools connect us. They are places where children discover their abilities, educators and school employees dedicate themselves to helping students succeed, and families look for opportunities for the next generation. A strong education should prepare students for the many paths available to them, including college, skilled trades, and other careers.

For me, these endorsements are both an honor and a responsibility. Support must be met with a willingness to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and put in the work that public service requires.

Thank you to President Sabathe, the council’s delegates, and the St. Tammany Federation of Teachers and School Employees for your support. I look forward to continuing conversations with residents across District 7 about the future of our schools.
